Hi All

When I started my periods when I was about 13/14, they were regular for about 3 months then they were all over the place and I was missing some, then they stopped altogether. I went to the doctor and he put me on microgynon for 3 months to try and kick start them again but it didn't work. In February 2015 I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and was told that my periods should start again once my blood sugars were under control. They didn't start again so I went back to the doctors and they referred my to gynaecology for tests where they found out that I had a bicornuate uterus but that it was no reason for me not to have a period. She said that she would be happy if I was having 3 periods a year. It's now been over a year, I have good control of my diabetes but still no period. It is also concerning because me and my boyfriend are wanting to try for a baby now and have been trying for 6 months with ovulation tests and pre natal vitamins but still nothing. We are going to go to a family planning clinic as I'm most worried about not being able to conceive with the bicornuate uterus but in the meantime does anyone have any advice or been through a similar situation?

Hi @Chloe1999 I'm sure more knowledgeable members will be along soon to help you, but one thing that springs to my mind, if I may be so indelicate, is how much do you weigh? I ask because when I was diagnosed with diabetes, I had lost an enormous amount of weight - I was 16, 5 foot 10, and weighed about 35 kilos. I didn't have another period for over a year, until my weight was back up to about 55 kilos. The menstrual cycle is in part regulated by leptin, which is a hormone made by fat cells.

Welcome to the forum :)

I didn't lose weight, I put it on. I was about 8 stone before I was diagnosed, then when I started showing symptoms i went up to about 12 stone now I've gone back down to 8. I'm roughly 5'4
