7.8 I think is running a little high for pregnancy, it would be safer for yourself and the child if you try to get it below 7 before conception.
According to Diabetes UK:
During the first trimester of pregnancy, the HbA1c target for women with diabetes is the same as for planning a pregnancy, that is 43 mmol/mol (6.1%) or lower. During the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, from week 13 onwards, HbA1c should not be used for assessing blood glucose control.
I'm 22 but would like a child within the next 3 years, however at the moment my A1c is way above target so I'm not even going to try until I know that it will be safe. I have heard that it's harder for a diabetic to conceive, don't hold me to this though.
