Type 1 diabetes linked to immune response to wheat

Good article Timo,
Though doesn't surprise me, my T1 son has coeliac disease which is a gluten intolerance found in wheat, rye, oats and barley. The year he was diagnosed, 10% of children who where newly diagnosed as T1 diabetics, also tested positive to coeliac disease. As his test for coeliac disease was done a yr after T1 diagnosis, we'll never know if he had CD 1st, though i think he probably had, as all symptons pointed to it. Therefore i would conclude that from reading the report his Coeliac disease would have destroyed enough of his gut to bring on the auto immune disease of diabetes. Thats my thoughts anyway, but hey as a parent i want to blame something for his condition.
