Late onset type 1 Diabetic currently on Porcine insulin as the least worst option as I am allergic to all insulins and also the silicon tipped pen jet needles. It has been suggested by my consultant that a pump might be the optimum solution . Any comments or suggestions please.

Absolutely but what would they use in the pump if your allergic to all insulins? Still worth talking it through with your HCP's.

Quite! They shoot horses don't they? Seriously, I'm concerned that because I cook my own home grown food, that the calorie counting hoop that they are now making me jump through before they consider any other options, cannot be an exact science. It is now over 18 months since the initial Type 1 diagnosis and no solutions in sight.

Have you tried bovine insulin? The idea of the pump is so that the insulin can be drip fed into you so hopefully your allegic reaction can be solved.
Why are you counting calories, it's carbs you need to count when using insulin?
