I was just wandering what most of you eat on a day to day basis, how many carbs at meal times and any ideas to replace carbs with something else that's tasty.

Personally I am aiming for less than 5% calories from carbs and no more than 15% from protein. The protein restriction is specific to Type 1s on a low carb diet because of the unpredictability of insulin dosing for protein, which is more unpredictable than dosing for carbs.

My diet would be considered extreme, but I have found it surprisingly easy to maintain, I am enjoying what I eat, and the effect on my blood sugar levels and blood sugar stability has been profound. On a typical day I run between 4 and 6 all day long and on a bad day I might briefly hit the high 7s or low 8s. This is from a CGM so it's not just spot checking, it really is good blood sugar all day long with no spikes.

protein has no sugar so you don't have to inject insulin for stuff like meat unless it's covered in batter or something like that, for me personally it doesn't matter what I eat, I have to eat the daily required calories, despite never being able to reach the 2500 calorie mark without throwing up

Yes, only might have to inject for protein if you are on a low carb diet. On a low carb diet some of the protein you eat can be converted to glucose (sugar ).

I just eat a normal diet (excluding cakes, biscuits etc) but don't eat as many carbs as the RDA, I'm currently around 180g of carbs a day (a little more sometimes on a weekend).

If you want ideas for replacement carbs go into the low-carb section of the forum and look for recipes by Whitby Jet, she's the low-carb queen of the forum and seems to do a lot of low-carb cooking from scratch.

No comment lol

I don't "low carb" as such, but do eat on average 60 - 120g a day. I find some carb free meals require insulin as they will increase my levels. I'm guessing this is down to protein.

I was on 300g of carbs a day to regain the weight I lost before diagnosis. Now I'm maybe 180g carbs a day

do you have any examples?
Not quite sure what you mean?

Some low carbing people on the forum including me take insulin for 1/4 to 1/3 the protein as if that proportion were carbs, others just guesstimate a small insulin dose for protein. Dr Bernstein also discusses it. It is not an issue in higher carb diets as anything more than small amounts of insulin will suppress the conversion of protein to carbs.

I'm on around 30g per day. Replace sandwiches with salads, starchy evening meal carbs with extra veg.

What I want really, just that I have never wanted alot!!

Only recently became aware that I should eat more fat n protein.. Was eating it, but not enough. Carbs work out to be low carbs.. Not intentionally.
