Type 1
Hi,

I have had diabetes for 25 years now,
I was very large and ended up with a
ffatty liver "cirrhosis" and was told my
liver could not now store Glycogen

I have lost just short of 10 stone but it
has also taken away a lot of muscle mass
(especilly my upper body arms etc

I am going to buy a home multi gym to help
rebuild all this but an not sure how and where
to start, where my body will get the energy from
if, as I understand, it cant draw on a ready
supply of resources?

Also an actual plan to work to so I dont end
up doing it wrong and having to stop if I maybe
do to much and my body cant cope

I`m not in a position to join a gym yet so it is
something I want to start now but at home, last
time I was at the gym anyway a lot of the personal
trainers were not that clued up on how people
have to live and operate with diabetes and not
just the "always make sure you have lucozade with
you approach (which is true) but there knowlege
does not seem to go much deeper than that

I hope all that makes sense

Kindest regards to all

Neil

Congratulations on the weight loss, that's an amazing amount to have lost. Well done!
I'm not that clued up about gym stuff and there are others who are way more knowledgeable who I'm sure will reply.
There are ways to build muscle without the gym or any expensive equipment. Squats - I use a broom handle to keep balanced. Lifting/carrying heavy household objects. Free weight exercises, again using household objects.
- my brother is an extreme sportsman and he has a tractor tyre in the garden which he pounds away at with a large sledge hammer. He also goes running up mountains with my ten year old nephew on his back......

What an Amazing job you are doing Wow do you get enough proteins like 0,4 gram Pro pound of bodyweight every Day at least. ?

Hi Hornplayer,

Thanks ever so much for the reply, I have a lot of problems with my legs hence not gettting out much and this stops me (only for the moment) from going to the gym but squats are a little bit away for me yet but I will get there
Thanks again

Neil

ps are you an actual "hornplayer" and knowing my luck if I had a big tyre to smash a hammer against I`d probably end up bashing my head with the rebounding hammer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol, yes, I am an actual hornplayer. - maybe start out small... Think tins of beans lol
There are lots of sitting leg exercises you can do too, to start to build up some muscle tone. Any thing that gets any bit of you moving is great.
