Hi everyone. I am new to this so I'm not doing this right forgive me.
I have a question I hope you can help me with.
I am a Type 1 diabetic and have been for the last 15 yrs. I am a Paramedic and have to renew my license annually.
I feel I have good diabetic control but still find it nerve racking waiting to see the consultant who will decide my future employment status. I have to show him 3 mths of blood sugar readings taken at least twice daily, with few under 4 mmols. Thus far this has not been a problem. I started my 3 mthly three to four times daily at the beginning of Jan. My license expired in April. Up until the 9/4 everything was going fine then for no reason my one touch ultra decided it was now the 12/6. I did not interfere with it in any way why would I as my records were good and going well. No forgotten blood sugars, if I only took one one day game over.
Has this ever happened to anyone? I just cannot understand why it would do this especially when we have not yet reached June.
I am seen the diabetic nurse on Monday and she is going to download the data and see what happens when she changes the date. I fear everything will not fall into place. I need three consecutive mths not three mths then a leap into June.
Please if anyone can tell me if this happened to them and how they resolved it

It looks like you have managed to change the date settings of your meter.
don't know how the consultant will "read" the meter, but if the software he uses is the "OneTouch Diabetes management software" the output will show both the date and the readings in order of readings, so if he/she is competent with the meter he can see the flow of readings.
Incidently, in your situation, I would have stopped using that old meter and switched to my spare meter, to save having more readings out of sequence than neccesary.
Good luck with the consultant!

Thank you for your reply. I am useless with technology ( I'm 55 nxt mth) I wouldn't know how to change the date and have not done anything with it but take my blood. I only learned how to copy and paste two weeks ago lol. You are right I should have started using a new meter but stupid me just thought it would sort it's self out. If they take my readings from the 12/6 I'll just continue until my three mths are up. I guess all will become clear on Monday. Thanks again.

You really should not fret too much. As the 12th of June has not arrived yet, it'll be obvious to the medical staff that the meter has been reset accidentally - unless you really have got a time-machine to do your testing in the future...? LOL Just carry on and they'll see that all the readings are sequential and reset the dates for themselves.
BTW - how does someone who describes himself as 'useless with technology' get to be a Paramedic....?

Ha ha. I take your point Browndoff, but I am really useless when it comes to technology. My 8yr old niece can run rings round me. As a paramedic the only technology I really require to know about is a defibrillator and that I can manage with ease lol. Thank you very much for replying I appreciate it you actually cheered me up. I hope the diabetic nurse and then the consultant see it your way, which is how I see it.
Cheers

Hi Ali,

I am new in the forum. I am diabetic Type 1 since I was 8 and I am 28 right now.

I have moved from the UK to NEW Zealand a couple of months ago and I had a similar issue with a different machine as the time is quite different here. What I did is to change the current day and time and it automatically updated the rest of the glucose levels.

I have a question as well for you:
Lately, I am struggling to put my HbA1c down which is currently at 58mmol/mol.
I have moved from the UK to New Zealand and I am waiting to have an Endocrine assigned. I have to say that last few months have been very stressful!!
Please, could you help me with some diet advices and insulin doses as you said you are under 4 mmol? I really need help because I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
Let me know if you want to have information about what I eat and injections.
Thank you,
Almudena

Hi Almudena, The Diabetic Nurse reset the date and time on my bm kit but the prior dates remained. The Nurse is going to talk to the Consultant prior to my appointment and explain what happened. Fingers crossed all goes well.
My HbA1c is 7.3 which I think calculates to something like 56mmol. So you can see it is not a lot different from your reading. Because I drive an Ambulance the Consultant wants my HbA1c kept around that.
Stress will not be helping your levels. Hopefully when you get settled it will come down.
I eat a lot of tuna chicken, veg and at this time of year I drop the potatoes for salads. My weakness is crisps lol.
There are looks of people on here that will be able to help you if you want to further reduce your HbA1c. I too would like to reduce mine but I just do as the Consultant tells me in order to keep my job!
Enjoy your new life in NZ.
Let me know how you get on.

Ali x
