Type 1 or 2?

I am 44 year old bloke,I was diagnosed 6 years ago and used tablets and diet to control my condition,however my symptoms gradually became worse so approx 15 months ago I went on to insulin,so am I type 1 or type 2?

Sounds like you are a type 2 controlled by insulin although I find the definitions confusing

There is type 1 which is a total absence of insulin produced by the pancreas and usually is diagnosed in children.

There is type 2 where the pancreas produces insulin but not enough or not of sufficient quality to be useful.

There is type 1.5 where a total pancreas/insulin failure occurs in adults because of an illness or incident.
