Well I received a call from the consultant yesterday my sugars are still very high so he’s give me metformin to take as well as my insulin Has anyone else had to do this ?

Did you ask the consultant why he or she had prescribed this? Other than because your sugars are still high?
Metformin can be given to type 1s but is normally given to type 2s because it works by getting the body to stop producing glucagon (insulin's antagonist) in such big quantities. It might help reduce sugars a little and is very safe though can have digestive side effects. It can help with weight loss too for similar reasons.

I use metformin as well as insulin.
But more important I think, is are you adjusting your insulin doses?
Is this doctor your GP or an endocrinologist?

I’ve been prescribed metformin too but very unsure
Having high reading especially in the am
I am giving large does of insulin- instead of my usual 1/2 units for breakfast I am giving 5/6 then still having to correct
My blood sugars seem to stick at high levels
Should I try this metformin?
But then seriously considering g going low carb but will I need metformin too?
Many thanks
