Can you separate posts of type 1 separate to type 2?
Type 1 after 55 years.
Type 1 don't have a choice on control.

But not every Type 2 can control their blood sugars. I am not overweight, I am very active, we have a farm so physical work. I do an hour of additional exercise every day. I don't eat junk, I have a very healthy diet. I don't drink alcohol and my lows are not reactive lows. Up until a few years ago I was a competitive long distance runner. I can't control my sugars. Every time I try to reduce my carbs I have hypos, serious ones too, as low as 1.9 at night and after I exercise. I have to manage them. So with due respect that is a massive assumption. I don't want my post to sound shirty, I'm just saying. :)

and I should mention I am trying to control my blood sugar with diet but I can see diet is not going to cut it for much longer.

@j.d.ice there is a sub forum for Type 1 diabetes.
Most things only related to Type 1 are posted on that forum.
However, there are some issues related to all types of diabetes and reading the posts from people with type 2 has certainly made me much more aware and sympathetic to their condition. Like you, I used to believe the media that type 2 was self inflicted (although not necessarily a choice) but now I understand it is far far far more complex than that. For example, there are thin people with type 2 and overweight people without.
Whatever you believe, I advise you to remember we are all here because we want support.

Whether type 1 or type 2 both are medical conditions so both are “ genuine “ in my humble opinion ,
I’ve been type 1 for over 40 years and have seen many changes both in treatments and attitude to all types of diabetes , to be honest I much prefer to be type 1 than type 2 , at least I can eat what I want and can do something if I get highs , I love my food and would hate to think I can’t eat what I want , I’ve had diabetes long enough to know what it’s like to have a list of foods to avoid and I’m so glad that no longer happens ,, this is a total personal opinion but I would definitely would walk a couple of miles in another persons shoes before I decided if something was “ genuine“

Hi @j.d.ice ,

This forum has a variety of types doing a fair bit to help others & themselves through support & exchange of knowledge & recent breakthroughs understanding the respective conditions in the diabetes field..

There are suspects sections of the forum that may also interest any personal query on your condition relevant to your prescribed regime.

As someone living with type one for over 46 years.

I feel whatever type we are have one thing in common. Nobody woke up one morning & fell in love with all the appointments, haranguing of dietary advice, meds & meters..

Feel free to take a tour around the forum & gain an understanding of the differences in management. Some do struggle, but there are also some stunning turn arounds on diabetes management.

Best wishes.

My brother is type 1 and he eats what he likes. I would rather be Type 1 than type 2 !
