J jonniey Well-Known Member Messages 266 Type of diabetes Type 1 Treatment type Insulin Jan 6, 2017 #23 The 12 is actually 12 carbs x 15 to get grams = 180
J jonniey Well-Known Member Messages 266 Type of diabetes Type 1 Treatment type Insulin Jan 6, 2017 #24 I mainly eat hi gi foods because the humalog is very fast acting....if I take the correct amount I end up where I started. But if i take 1 or 2 units too little or too much then I have vast fluctuations

You may find that you need different amounts of insulin for the same meal, depending on when you eat it. If you're able to get a half unit pen for your fast-acting insulin, that will help you be able to get your doses more accurate.

Click to expand... Well, I think you've just given yourself the solution above. You said that one unit could cause fluctuations, so try adjusting your dose in half units A half unit can make a difference for many Type 1s.
