Keeping blood sugar levels close to normal will be challenging for T1 because some causes are things that you cannot control (hot and humid weather, interruptions in usual schedules due to travel, spending time at high altitude, going through puberty, or stress). Not taking enough insulin can lead to hyperglycemia (like missing a dose or not taking enough insulin for the carbs you ate). People with T1D can have episodes of hyperglycemia every day. Although this can be frustrating, it rarely creates a medical emergency. All these things make it difficult to control.
