I miss out a day or two and you lot are beyond belief, having bloods taken......I'm there starring at the needle to make sure she (sorry but it usually is a she) puts it in right! I think it freaks them out that you're so 'in to' it.

Hi @porl69, Does your dentist offer nitrous Oxide for pain relief ?

Ah! That "thing." I call it "score carding." Think of an old school figure skating judge pannel...

Had my dog at the vets recently. Booster jabs & stuff.. Yep couldn't help my self.

Did the vet pass?

I agree, missed a couple of days and it's all about blood - no, I don't ever want to see it happening! My worst experience was when I was giving blood (in the 12 years between being old enough and being diagnosed Type1) and the doctor at the clinic had 8 - yes really, 8 - attempts to find my vein. Almost enough to make me never go again. Not given to fainting, but more than 2 attempts and I feel as if I might; no wonder they used to make you lie down to give blood! Yet my last GP could take blood without me noticing the needle go in. He said it was all about feeling for the vein almost more than looking, which makes perfect sense as my veins aren't very visible and never have been, even when at my fittest. Shame he's retired.

Did the vet pass?

Strangely.. Struggling with a hound that didn't really want to be on the table, let alone in the building.
Though the vet was pinching up the scruff of his neck? She came within a centimeter of banging it into the back of my hand..

On the second go, a nice steady movement.

It wasn’t as high as that thank goodness. However, no matter what my numbers are the swimming causes a big rise as there is a lot of Adrenalin involved. I try to swim on a 6. All other exercise makes me drop.

I would say most of what you do is definitely good exercise. You sound very active under normal circumstances.

Afternoon all! Having a very quiet day today after all the birthday excitement - don’t normally have as many days out in short order as chronic fatigue is a real issue for both of us. Got to pop out for cat litter and pink salt, and stock up on avocados, but other than that... I may take up the curtains I bought about five years ago for my bedroom.

On the BG front, been rumbling along between high fours and mid sixes since last night, except for a high 7 at around 8am - corrected for that and if it happens again tomorrow I’ll up my basal rate a smidge to cover it. I was getting a little surge late morning, so I programmed in a little extra and it’s not happened today.

I have to say I just love my Omnipod, it’s flexibility for different times of day is just incredible. Why did I avoid a pump so long?

Oh yeah. Tubes.

Thunder is booming, very windy and down comes the rain...................... It's makes a nice change ( I am really saying that) lol

You know you're getting old when a dry spell finally breaks, the kids are stuck in doors and the adults are staring out the window with a smile watching their grass green up (hopefully!)

Hi

Quick Libre question.

I know that it lags behind the bloods but Libre says 2.9 but bloods say 5.6?
Do I leave alone or correct for the 2.9? not sure.

Also I have changed the place where I stick the Libre now in the recommended place as per instructions, back of arm where as before I had them on the inside of the arm, I think there the needle was more in the blood stream so I found that the difference between the two, bloods/scan was only different by 0.1 ~ 0.5 or 1 at most.

Now placing at the back of the arm there is a good couple of points between them

Is this right?

That happens to me with hypos too, especially when I first put one on, the first few days are worse for this.

I really hate it, because I can't bear not to correct a 2.9, so when that happens I tend to switch to just using the finger prick tests, and do quite a few of them, just for reassurance, and pretend that sensor on my arm doesn't exist, for a while.

If you are confident the finger prick tests are accurate, then ignore the sensor, it will climb eventually, but I find they can be a bit erratic with hypos.

And the current one is on the back of my arm.

It’s scientific and to do with the delay of sugar showing up in fluids V bloods. Too complex for my brain. Libra themselves do not claim to be accurate with lows/highs.

I’d go with the blood reading.

I’d go with the blood reading.

Thanks for the replies, I decided to wait and went with the Bloods and as @Alison54321 pointed out it did climb back up again.

Just a little preturbed by the difference in the numbers...........

More observations required me thinks

Some people just seem to be luckier with it than others, why, I don't know. But then there is no reason whatsoever why I should know, but it just seems to be that way.

Which is very frustrating, because it's so useful, it would be good if it worked for everyone.

It can sometimes be a faulty sensor, but if you've had this problem before, and the dexcom was better, but not great, it would suggest that it's not a faulty sensor.

A couple of totally unscientific suggestions, that you can feel free to ignore.

It might be that your body takes longer to get used to the sensors, and if you go through a few inaccurate sensors, they might start to work better, but that's a highly dodgy theory, and there is no evidence anywhere whatsoever to support it.

Another possibility is that another part of your body might work better.

But, that's a lot of trial and error, that might not bring any reward.

Dont correct libre reading go with blood reading
