Hi @porl69, Does your dentist offer nitrous Oxide for pain relief ?I bleeding HATE injections...not too bad doing them myself () BUT if a nurse or Dr comes near me it is sheer panic. I have been known to pass out having bloods done. And my all time friend the DENTIST I loath going to see him, probably the only man in the world that scares me lol
I have never asked. I just want in and out as quickly as possibleHi @porl69, Does your dentist offer nitrous Oxide for pain relief ?
I miss out a day or two and you lot are beyond belief, having bloods taken......I'm there starring at the needle to make sure she (sorry but it usually is a she) puts it in right! I think it freaks them out that you're so 'in to' it.
Did the vet pass?Ah! That "thing." I call it "score carding." Think of an old school figure skating judge pannel...
Had my dog at the vets recently. Booster jabs & stuff.. Yep couldn't help my self.
I agree, missed a couple of days and it's all about blood - no, I don't ever want to see it happening! My worst experience was when I was giving blood (in the 12 years between being old enough and being diagnosed Type1) and the doctor at the clinic had 8 - yes really, 8 - attempts to find my vein. Almost enough to make me never go again. Not given to fainting, but more than 2 attempts and I feel as if I might; no wonder they used to make you lie down to give blood! Yet my last GP could take blood without me noticing the needle go in. He said it was all about feeling for the vein almost more than looking, which makes perfect sense as my veins aren't very visible and never have been, even when at my fittest. Shame he's retired.I miss out a day or two and you lot are beyond belief, having bloods taken......I'm there starring at the needle to make sure she (sorry but it usually is a she) puts it in right! Just to point out @becca59, if you levels were ab0ve say, 12 to 13 mmol/l, exercise would only have caused the bsl to rise even mor. Apparently the body starts to release some glucose from the liver at 13 mmol/l with exercise, for some bizarre reason.
I usually wait until my BSL has corrected to say 10 mmol/l before exercising. You may wish to see how you BSL goes and see whether 12 - 13 mmol/l is a problem for you too with exercise. Best Wishes and Comisserations !
Just going back to the exercise discussion, I don't 'exercise' although I'm usually quite active (when not suffering sciatic pain!) so I walk the dog twice a day, cycle to and from work (about 5-6 miles a day in total), keep an allotment, garden and theres always some DIY to do around the house I am usually well and fit. I don't drink that much and usually mostly red wine. I was diag. at 27yrs old at the time I played hockey and continued to do so for a good few years after - only gave up when the daughter arrived; very much like my hockey mates some of which I've known since school. Lets say some of them (most) have 'gone to pot', without the diabetes I'm sure I'd be much like them and be unfit and unhealthy - so the T1D in some respects is a blessing..........!
Thunder is booming, very windy and down comes the rain......................It's makes a nice change ( I am really saying that) lol
Hi
Quick Libre question.
I know that it lags behind the bloods but Libre says 2.9 but bloods say 5.6?
Do I leave alone or correct for the 2.9? not sure.
Also I have changed the place where I stick the Libre now in the recommended place as per instructions, back of arm where as before I had them on the inside of the arm, I think there the needle was more in the blood stream so I found that the difference between the two, bloods/scan was only different by 0.1 ~ 0.5 or 1 at most.
Now placing at the back of the arm there is a good couple of points between them
Is this right?

That happens to me with hypos too, especially when I first put one on, the first few days are worse for this.
I really hate it, because I can't bear not to correct a 2.9, so when that happens I tend to switch to just using the finger prick tests, and do quite a few of them, just for reassurance, and pretend that sensor on my arm doesn't exist, for a while.
If you are confident the finger prick tests are accurate, then ignore the sensor, it will climb eventually, but I find they can be a bit erratic with hypos.
And the current one is on the back of my arm.
I’d go with the blood reading.
Talking (or writing?) of Libre, I've been starting to wonder if I have been doing anything wrong.
I trialled the Libre about 18 months ago, found it inaccurate in an unpredictable way so gave up with it.
I then tried the DexCom G4 (it links with my pump) which was a little more accurate but I found abdominal exercises reduced its lifespan so gave up with that.
Fast forward to this thread where lots of you guys (who seem to know what you are talking about so have gained my respect) use the Libre so I decided to try again.
My plan is not to use it to correct but just to spot trends and tweak my basal.
But again, it is unpredictably inaccurate compared to finger pricks. My finger says 5.6 but Libre says 9.2 and going up, finger says 4.9 and Libre says 2.9 (and level), etc.
I have positioned it on the back of my left upper arm. It doesn't (yet) irritate.
I have been using it for 9 days during which it has got neither more nor less accurate.
I am using the LibreLink app.
I know the Libre is about 15 minutes behind the finger (so to say) but when I am not eating or exercising, I don't expect my BG to change that quickly ... and not in the opposite direction to the arrow.
Dear trusted, respected regular Libre users, is there anything I have done wrong which is causing these regular weird readings?
Dont correct libre reading go with blood readingHi
