Type 1'stars R Us

Morning folks, well not the bet start to the day. Went to bed on a 6.8, woke at 1 am to 4.2, so took 3 jelly beans and woke at 6.30 to a 10.1. Just the sort of figures to take to the clinic this morning. Looks like Dawn could be back haunting me again

Good morning y'all, a waking 6,1 so I'm pleased with that looking out of the window I'm starting to accept that it's about time to put my work shorts away till spring
The skip's nearly full and mums house is nearly empty after a week of maximum effort and no gym with no swims although the estate agency's photographer didn't look impressed with it on the drive, but as I'd cleaned the windows I suggested he cracked on....
And when this is all over and done with I'm treating myself to a couple of nights in Amsterdam at the end of the year.

The biggest failure I find with Etch A Sketch is its inability to calibrate with blood tests. Like this morning, bear in mind that this sensor is going to get changed tomorrow.

Woke up, Libre say 2.8,

Xdrip/Miaomiao said 3.5

Bloods said 7.0

So recalibrated Xdrip with the bloods and it now reads close to them. Etch A Sketch still way off

Seeing as the Libre Reader can also do Bloods you would think that it would only take a tweak of the system to add in a calibration.

ON a side note: 2nd week into Dulac and I am liking it, I have now ended up with nearly the same amount of Dulac as I was taking Lantus which I find odd as everyone, including DSN was saying "drop it by a couple of units it has more kick".......yet I find for, me it hasn't.....still never mind have found a sweet spot so all things ticky boo at the moment
However I might start tweaking so watch this space
 
@kev-w Yep my shorts are away (until end of Septemeber and Turkey here I come ). I think I am going to Amsterdam in March next year, funds depending.....that'll be a good one

Woke to a 7.7 and another dead straight line, very happy again. Lets see how long that lasts lol

@Mel dCP WOW that pic you posted last night brought back some horrendous memories I think I still have the brusies from those needles (40 years ago lol)
 

The Tresiba is working then? that's good.
 
Morning, just after I made a comment yesterday my blood sugar decided to go too high, though to be fair I did help the gremlin out, by probably not bolusing enough for lunch.

Fairly steady overnight, I corrected about 1.30am, when it reached 6.5, and woke to a nice 5.1. This wasn't an alarm, just me half awake reaching for the libre, this is a lot easier to do than a middle of the night finger prick test, it's turned into a bit of a habit. Though I did have a lot of sleepless nights before I reached this stage.
 
Ugh, ugh, ugh. Despite (or because of) my crowing yesterday, I got a total reminder of what a pain T1 is to live with. Stubborn high all night that just wouldn’t go down, up every two hours to correct. Knackered now! Down to mid 4s now, T1000 malfunction, I guess

@Knikki - my Libre is off as well, loads of hypos are going to appear on my Diasend, so I always do a blood test in the scanner which will get uploaded too, so I can clearly show I’m not hypo. I trust my Spike readings over the scanner and app. Glad the Tresiba is working, fingers crossed it continues to do so!

@porl69 - I started on pens when I was diagnosed in 98, they were brand new then, and I had to pay for the needles myself - always the way with new diabetes tech, it seems. Someone in one of my fb groups was complaining that the 4mm pen needles really hurt, so one of the veterans chipped in with that photo (of course)... so I nicked it

Im on the same units with it knikki as what i was on with lantus but get a steady line with it were lantus used to drop me at silly oclock
 


Just back from clinic and to be honest feeling absolutely deflated. Still waiting on my Hb1Ac result but doc said looking at Libre figure, he reckons about 65. On the plus side that is down from 68, six months ago

however for past 6 months I have put in a huge amount of effort to have better control, more so than in previous 37 years. The problem is with the inconsistencies some days its Ok others it like a map of Himalayas on the Libre. He reckons that this could be done to injection sites being shot and he advised me not to use large areas of my legs for future injection sites.

I am he said, an ideal candidate for pump and he will put me on the list. But with our area only having 30 pumps for the forthcoming year. Dont know how many diabetics there are in our area but we have a population of around, 600 000. he reckons I could get one in about 2 years

I have gone fairly low carb, for 5 days of week don't eat, bread, potatoes, rice or pasta. Initially I lost 4kg but in past 2 months have put on 1kg

All the effort and pretty much diddly squat in return.

Feel like going back to my old bad habitats, bring on the carbs
 
The flying fish kite is nearer completion. Excitement is mounting which means increasing my basal level 20%.
Of course a low blood sugar would be even worse. The sewing machine I am using has no needle guard. Whilst a needle through the skin would supply plenty of samples for blood sugar testing, 'tis a bit drastic to contemplate so I shall be careful with the blood sugar readings. So taking breaks and following the mantra for all cutting of material: Measure twice, cut once.
Do we all automatically check our insulin type and insulin doses twice before injecting: To be sure, to be sure ?
 
3.9 at 5.30 this morning feeling like a type 1 at 3.9 this morning!
Busy as busy could be this morning so no novorapid needed and stayed steady all morning.
Intended to have a couple of crackers at lunchtime which turned into eight(!) yes 8....
I'd eaten the little buggers before I could stop myself!

I've novorapidid myself and irritated myself too......

Today I am officially giving up lol
7.7 this morning had my breakfast as usual. Checked my libre at 11 and I was on a 16.8. Did I forget my insuling, checked the Timesulin and that agreed that the lid was off at 7.10 am this morning. I then checked the units on my pen and that was still on 8 units. DOH!!!!! forgot to press the button
 

You haven't got the result yet, it could be better than expected, and at least it's going down, even if slowly. Don't be too disheartened, HbA1c isn't everything, if your hypers are starting to be less high, and your hypos less low that could create the strange effect of making your HbA1C look not that much different, but the reality would be that there is less variation in your blood sugars, and that's a significant improvement. HaA1c isn't the whole story.
 
@smc4761 I had a cracking week last week, everything bang on and hunky Dory with minimal effort. Libre as straight as a die. Is it the same this week, is it hecky thumb! Have I done anything different, NOPE! You can but do your best, please do not lose heart, just keep plodding on!
