Type 1'stars R Us

Just booked my flu jab and I am now booked in for the end of this month at doctors. I live near Glasgow and dont think the pharmacists give out flu jab

Bad hypo's? guess it depends on how bad, the last really bad one I had was last November, my own stupid fault, and Mrs Knikki ended up calling the paramedics. Canular and large bag of glucose, dextrose stuff straight into the vein (I don't like those things) plus bread and jam plus jaffa cakes all in all it took them about 1.5 to 2hours to get me to a point where they felt comfortable about leaving.
Boy did I hurt, seems that I fitted and all the muscles in my back went into a kind of clenched state ended up going the Docs and getting some heavy pain killers.

I'm bit like @evilclive just shrug shoulders and not let it worry me too much and remember not to do the same thing again
after the above event I did not run myself higher I still tried to keep on the low side because that is just the way I am (this is pre-Libre)

Since getting the Etch A Sketch (Libre) things have been quieter on the whole, still hypo but not as bad and with using Tresiba and Apidra the hypos are now more controllable and easier to see and fix.

However I do find that when the Libre says 'LO' I usually find it is lying and doing a blood test shows that I am in the high 2 or low 3's so some munchies and all is OK.

Yeah Hypo's can be scary, especially like you when they catch you out, but I don't fear them, I respect them, know they are there and know that with some munchies they can be easily sorted

On a side note, I have just taken the MiaoMiao off my arm and instantly the phone found it but as I only have 4 days left on this sensor I can live with off my arm especially as I can still use xDrip as a reader and recalibrate and it has not nerfed the sensor
 
I had my flu jab 3 weeks ago, gladly no side effects at all.
Had a good day today, went for a try dive and I must say it was amazing. Wait for the new avatar....
Just about to change the Libre over now....skin tac is very good....the libre survived a Turkish bath and hours in the sea.....
 
Good morning y'all. Libre said low and a finger stick said 2.2, an hour later a finger stick says 3.9 and the Libre says low still, the sensors last 14 hours....

I've slept funny as well and my neck's stiff, I've had a coffee beans spillage, the 'pre bolus' is a tense affair using finger sticks and some days you think what a load of Mels cat this illness is....Oh and I've a headache too.

Meh.
 
went to bed with a sore throat, woke up at 5am feeling pants, headache, shivery, hot and cold all at the same time, bunged up.....took some paracetamol and managed to get some more sleep - woke at the usual time feeling a lot better, not great but almost human. 8.1 before breakfast and 6.7 last night so not too bad. At least I cleaned my teeth and didn't sleep funny! (Helen and Kev )
 
Commiserations and sounds like so far the BSLs are too troubled by the lurgy. I guess time will tell. The up side? (is there one)?
you can get out of any cooking and doing the dishes. Long may the exemption last, just not the lurgy !!
 
Meeting all day so turned off the 2 hour-after-bolus BSL measure alert on the Tandem T-slim pump, now with nickname"Tonto".
No beeps to disturb the meeting! I have ordered a power bank for emergency charge ups of the pump battery.
There is one neat one which will do most of a usual mobile phone charge and is about the size and thickness of a credit card.
For those with mobile phones the pump uses the mini-USB connection like on Samsung and other non-Apple devices. I have also ordered a larger device with both Apple (lightning) and mini-USB leads, which will do about 2 charges of each device if need be. The Apple power point adaptors are amongst the smallest. In the UK you have several options for foldable plugs if space is a problem such as in a handbag etc. Amazon advertise a foldable Boost Block adaptor for universal use but do not post it to Australia, D'oh!!!
Ashamed to say I am not missing the Animas Vibe very much but I have still to do my first unsupervised insulin cartridge change tomorrow. Tandem uses a proprietary cartridge which has a bag inside a plastic casing, which is filled via a port ( up to 300 Units but usually whatever is 72 hours worth, plus extra for flushing out bubbles in the syringe and fulling the tubing). Not sure how the plastic of the cartridges are recycled or how environmentally safe they are. More homework !! Enjoy your day and evening.
 
Holding steady at 8.1 - I'm sure it was this week I replied to someone who was having high BGLs that a cold/illness could well raise it..............
 
Afternoon all, just got back from a nice gentle morning of sewing with the young-old-ladies who have now adopted me as an old-lady-in-training. Which is nice, because up until this year I doubted I’d ever actually live long enough.

Relatively smooth sailing over the last 24, slight high of 7.5 in the night which I corrected, been around 5 ever since. Having a quiet afternoon sewing some patches on my medical kit bag before taking the teenager shopping for paint, lighting and wallpaper for his bedroom. That’ll be fun...
 
Oh Mel's cat. Have just bought my lunch and realised I have not got any needles in my handbag. Lunch will have to be scrapped. Doh!
Seriously need to get my act together.

Oh no! People have no clue just how much stuff we have to think about, do they? Said cat is currently snoring his head off on the swing seat in the garden. The other two are also snoring their heads off, one each side of me on the sofa...

I must just have blanked the need to restock. But am cross because after last week's forgotten basal and today's needles I am at risk of getting careless. Must try harder.
 
oh @Diakat! any chance you can source a no/low(er) carb lunch instead? hope the hunger pangs aren't too veracious(!)

I find this so comforting @Diakat, knowing it's not just me who does these things. Same with @helensaramay, I have been without that toothbrush on travel for work and it's hideous; lots of hotels (if you're staying in one) will have a cheap (or even complimentary) emergency option.

My day's been one of the best I've had for ages because I had an a1c test on Monday and my DNS rang me to tell me the result was 53. This is the best I've achieved for literally years, and puts me under the 58 required by Somerset CCG to get Libre on prescription. Just checked my online records and there it is in my repeat medication list ready to be ordered for free after a year. Call me slow to get there and I don't care; what is true is that it's made a huge difference as have the people on here. Seeing how so many of you take correction doses so often and how that allows you to achieve incredibly good control over a completely undomesticated lifelong condition spurred me to do the same, with growing confidence until I've reached this point. So, many thanks to all of you for the example you've set and what you've absolutely helped me to achieve. Now for some cake
