Morning all. Thick fog again. Grandson day and plumber day. Ye ha!
@Japes I always feel guilty when I hand my half empty basal in at the chemist. Only taking 8 units a day at present so always still half full after a month. I wish they did half size pens.

I know exactly what you mean, I awoke on a 7.5, that's fine, had a cup of tea and a read of my book, tested again. 10.7 !! just

Hope your day will get better, take care

Good morning, a dull Tuesday at the moment but never mind. Awoke on 7.5, had a cuppa and a read of my book, checked again, 10.7 !! not a happy bunny
Anyway, Happy Tuesday guys

Morning all! Rudely awakened this morning by my mum shouting at the cat!

Went to sleep last night on 9.5 and I presume rising, as I'd had spag bol just a couple of hours beforehand. Not checked yet this morning. Do I really want to know?

Hope everyone's got a good day ahead!

Good morning teabags all, just had another catch up of posts. Got back to making mud pies yesterday and Hamish behaved well. We’re an assorted bag of mainly oldies there, some daft, a few badass, all interesting and good to talk and laugh and make stuff with. It was sooooo lovely to be back again!
Sorry about your colleague’s news @Japes
No, this T1 thing’s never going to be predictable, well-behaved and civilised is it, it’s just too complicated for the formulae we’re given. Sometimes it’s a hangry toddler, sometimes it’s like a runaway train with too much cargo in the wagons, and when it’s smiling sweetly and good as gold there’s always a glint of the rough stuff ahead. I find it helps to personalise it, a bit like Hamish.
Hope you’re teaching decent young people something you’ll all enjoy today Mel.
Hi @Gnat. Hi @jazz.
Always a bit concerned about the dilated pupil eye screening, not because I don’t like Blues Brothers, I do, they’re great, but because dilated pupils are a sign you really really like the person they’re trained on. Always have a bit of amusement watching the responses to an old biddy who’s only asked for an Americano, no more, no less

dont think I'll risk the full English, as that's what gave me the 28 last week! Now if you could explain that one...

Weetabix also shot me up yesterday... insulin just doesn't seem to like me in the morning! So gonna try the ready break with a banana and no added sugar yoghurt, and see it that does me any better
Unfortunately I'm not actually a fan of ready break, but I'll chuck a load of sweetener in there, and see if that helps!

Can I just skip forward a couple of years, so I know what I'm doing at least a little more!

Oh mon dieu. They’ve got me teaching FRENCH... I haven’t been to a French lesson since about 1989! On the bright side, there’s national literacy and numeracy tests today so my year sevens haven’t turned up. I’ve got a lovely top floor classroom to hide in.

Sacre Bleu! Bonne chance!

Good moaning all.
Woken up last night to a strange alarm off my phone/watch BG 27......oh my word, haven't been that high for a LONG time. Canula was in and pump was working. One of the strange ones I guess. Woke to a 6.6 so my correction bolus worked!

Congrats @Knikki on a brilliant A1C......you sure your diabetic lol
@Jazz97 I love ready break BUT have to have around 40 grams (carb value) of sugar in it. Bit of a huge insulin dose for that!

Luckily I found a good tablespoon of sweetener to do the job, along with the banana, it was almost nice

I don't think I would risk sugar at the mo. Levels all too unpredictable for the time being!

I'm now running along the low 4s after changing both cartridges early, can't say I mine were underfloor heat treated or even heat treated by some other means - up or down! and they were both around the 50u mark so I'm not wailing internally at their loss .

Morning all, I wonder what I’ll be teaching today? I just know what school to go to, I’ve got no idea what I’ll be doing when I get there...

Some of my old teachers were probably just like that, but they were full timers!

Morning all,
Reading through the posts gives me heart. Lots of you have been battling T1 for yonks and it still gives you grief. Mr B occasionally asks after my blood and then shakes his head,in the same way I do when I pig out and wake up 5.6.
Yesterday was catastrophic from a hypo in the middle of the night then rising, rising and onward and upward to 15.6 and that was despite carb counting and giving myself a right good bolus!!
The sun's shining and I've just collected my new glasses. Delighted so went and bought an octopus.... to cook and eat later.
Love French, the French and French cheese and of course sorbet. My favourite phrase is when they say, "je suis desole" and you know it's not true.
I'm going to fight some nettles now and then perhaps a glass of fizz!!

I will have an early meal of griddled asparagus, poached duck's eggs and a shaving of parmesan. I am looking forward to it already.

British asparagus season has just started here - first of the year last night (no, not home grown, we're not gardeners at all). Time for smelly wee. We just steam and eat with melted butter and pepper as a starter.

Now, white asparagus - decadent luxury or slightly unpleasant and a waste? A german friend thinks the former, we're the latter.
