Hello every body,
not really a new member but have been away from the forum for a while. I was diag. type 2 in April 2008 and initially lost a couple of stone by sticking to the balanced diet and exercise. My bloods were not good and found the dosage of metformin crept up every visit to the GP but I was doing well and feeling fit and healthy. All this changed in Oct when my girlfriend gave birth to my son, he was born with TOFS-an incomplete food pipe joined to the wind pipe.
We have only really just got him past a life threatening stage and although his journey will be a long and winding one I now Have to start getting myself back on track. After 6 months of eating takeaways and junk because the hospital was 35 miles away from home, working 12 hour nights 70 mile from home, looking after the other children I really didn't take care of myself.
I know low carb is not for every one and I don't want to turn this thread into another debate ,I just want to say thank you for all posts from both sides of the debate . I would never have given it a go without the information gained on here. As I say I don't mean this in any other way other than to thank all contributers. It really is working for me, I was on the verge of not being able to carry on with my life style and now I can give my son the time and care he needs. Thank you

Hi Andy,

Many thanks for your message. It's always nice to have feedback from those who have been helped by information or advice on the forums.

Hi Andy
glad your little one has begun to improve. I wish him all that's good in life.
Don't forget to look after yourself. He needs his daddy. Too many children don't have parents who love them as you obviously love yours.
