Type of diabetes
Type 2
I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes but I am not on any medication or monitoring my sugar levels. I have a review due in about 4/5 months. However I am going on holiday before then, already booked, do I have to inform my insurer? I am insured through my bank as one of the privileges of the type of account I have. Can anyone advise please?

I would always err on the side of advising them. Better safe than sorry. Also, you could check your policy terms and conditions, or ask the insurer. Maybe send them an email so you have proof that you advised them.

Hi, welcome. The correct answer I suppose is that we should declare it and if necessary shop around for the best offer. If we don't, and something diabetes-related occurs, the insurers will surely get out of paying up.
My insurer (Saga) was fine about my Type 2 in principle but then set a fee of over £300 for a fortnight in the US on the grounds that medical costs there are so high. I won't be using them any more (after 15 years of otherwise good service).

I would declare it, if god forbid anything should happen to you even non db related the insurance company Could declare the policy void

It's advisable. We went to Geurnsey in June and it cost £55.00 for 4 nights - £51.00 for hubby who has a pace-maker and is on Warfarin and £4.00 for me!
