Type 2 and Ketones Question

I finished work early today because I haven't felt too good. I woke up this morning feeling like I'd been run over by a bus, achey, headachey, and thought it was either a cold or PMT.
The last time I felt this way I had an incoming UTI, so thought that I might head it at the pass this time by doing a urinalysis stick, and if it was showing positive for leukocytes I would get an appointment at the Dr's for the morning. Well I've done the test and I'm showing ruckloads of ketones - it's gone the darkest colour on the stick. No UTI though, but tonnes of protein. My bg is 10.1, which isn't massively high, but higher than it normally is this time of day (I'd expect 5.5 to 7.5). I haven't been exceptionally low carbing today, but my diet hasn't been terrible. I had greek yoghurt for breakfast, and had tuna and spinach on burgen for lunch.

Could I be showing high ketones because I have been low-carbing for a long time, or should I be a bit more concerned?
I've just downed a pint of water and will retest a bit later.

Ketones are normally a harmless by-product of a low carb diet in conjunction with good BG readings however with your higher than normal readings and the fact you are feeling unwell I would urge you to keep testing your BG's and ketones and if your BG's increase anymore and you still show high ketones despite drinking plenty of fluids then I would urge you to seek medical opinion ASAP-I know you have a diagnosis of type 2 but misdiagnosis can and does happen.

Best wishes

Paul
