any advice please! smile...susan...xxx

I just got over a throat infection myself and was on antibiotics for it. I have to go and get my ears checked today as I don't think they've recovered from what started out as a virus several weeks back (need to check they're not infected).

My sugar levels are always mostly high when I'm sick, either that or at times my sugar drops real low... but it's hard to keep them in normal range. It is tricky trying to control that's for sure. I'm on insulin and I've tried increasing dosages and that doesn't always work either. The body is just stressed and fighting that's why I suppose. Also I find my sugar levels being out of whack is usually one of my first signs I'm not well.... a bit like a warning system. So far I find it works quite well as I'm feeling real bad within a day or two after I notice that.

The only advice I can give is make sure you drink lots of fluids and if you've got a fever you may benefit from taking gastrolyte or hydrolyte to make sure you're not dehydrated. I find water isn't enough for me when I have a fever. That will help you with the sugar levels to keep well hydrated. Also make sure you get rest as the body needs energy to recover. Continue to eat healthy and watch your carb portions. If your sugar levels go over 10 regularly you probably should be discussing with your doc about what to do while you're sick as well.

I hope you start feeling better real soon. :)
