Hi Mushroom, thanks so much for your reply. It certainly makes sense what you have said, and I ave recently had a few photos taken and done 'before and after' clips of them and only then can I see any difference in the way I look (see my profile pic). I know it took a long time to put the weight on so my mind got used it it slowly, so I suppose it will just have to reprogramme itself to the 'new me'Hi Kim, welcome to the forum.
Being overweight is quite complex. To become 'big', you have to ignore the increased weight, clothes not fitting, going up dress sizes, choosing clothes more carefully to look good and accepting how you look.
Losing weight is exactly the same. Being overweight might make you feel better as you think you become invisible, less attention etc. Takes time to accept a lower weight. Take photos, (something you may have avoided looking at when overweight), try a different , more fitted style of clothes, choose different colour clothing, listen to other people. Our body is 'us' and it takes time to adjust when it changes dramatically.
Medication is another thing If you have got used to the doctor telling you diabetes is progressive and medication is the only way, even reducing medication seems wrong.
Don't put the weight back on, take time to adjust to your new self. In fact, it is you, the way you should be.
Thank you hun, that is really sweet of you to say. I was a size 22-24 and am now a size 14... loving buying clothing in the new size but still go for the plus size clothing on the rails... its my hubby that has to 'remind' me that I am not that size anymore lol xI think you are awesome! I was going to suggest a photo but someone beat me to it. I am a 16-18 so vary. The photo is cold hard proof. Keep it up! We all need someone to aspire to!
fiirst off Hun you look amazing. I was following the slimming world diet prior to diagnosis and have lost nearly 3 stone x however since diagnosis I have cut the carbs out, so still following it . I am not really eating at the moment as I have lost my taste a few weeks ago and I just have no appetite. I am new to the world of diabetic and to say I am struggling with that and my other conditions ( I am disabled ) and deaf , trust me if I looked that good I would shout it from the rooftops my love.
