Type 2 - Apprehension/New Symptoms

Hi all,

I have been type 2 since February 2013 and take 4 Glucophage 500mg every day.

Over the last couple of months I have had more symptoms such as;
  • Tingling/sore fingertips, especially on my small (pinky) finger near the top. Its sore to touch it.
  • I have also been very tired and lethargic and feel like sleeping anytime I get 5 mins to sit down or chill out time.
  • I also get really sore legs, shins, arms and joints (something similar to flu pains u get in ur body).
  • Weakness in lifting even the simplest of things like a tin of soup.
I've to see my diabetic nurse tomorrow to get the results of my blood test I done 2 weeks ago and I've to let her know the above symptoms too.

Has anyone else had these symptoms as type 2?

I'm 35 yo and feeling like 105 these past couple of months

If you are eating tins of soup perhaps you are having too much carbs in your diet

I'd agree with Christine, blood sugars that are too high cause tiredness and fatigue.
Other causes of fatigue are anaemia, Vitamin B12 deficiency (this can be caused by metformin - glucophage), Vitamin D deficiency or underactive thyroid.

Anything that relates to tingling in the fingers/feet of someone known to be diabetic needs proper investigation as to it's root cause by a medical expert. Mention all your symptoms to your Dr or DN ASAP.

Hi. Do you have a glucose meter? If not do get hold of one to check how your blood sugar is doing. You can then adjust your diet and/or discuss more meds if needed with the DN. Tingling always needs to be taken account of. Your other symptoms could have various causes. BTW, are you normal or over weight?

Hi,

I have lost 2 and a half stone since last February (first diagnosed) so I'm im about 1.5 stone overweight now. Don't know if that's just classed aas overweight rather than previously obese.

Got my blood results today and the diabetic nurse was happy with everything and says im doing well and also with the progressive weight loss. Lost another 7lbs since end of October

Thanks for all your replies peeps

Did the nurse have a view about all of your symptoms mentioned above? I hope they are improving.

Regards

Doug

I mentioned them to her but said I had to mention it to the doctor. Seen my Doc and he took more blood from me. Just need to wait 2 weeks to go back to see him.

I had tingling in my fingers tips. I was also tired and could fall asleep on the sofa in seconds

I changed my diet and it went away. Over Christmas I stopped doing so well and the symptoms came back.

Lesson learned there!

What are your sugar levels like?
