Does anyone else have type two and a new diagnosis of left bundle branch block? Have appointment to see Cardiologist in August and am a bit worried.

Hope there are others like me out there with reassuring words !!

Hi

I have a partial left branch block and was told that as there were no other heart abnormalities then it was nothing to worry about. If treatment is necessary, it is often by use of a pacemaker.

Hope all goes well in August.

Regards

I have Type 2 diabetes (diagnosed in 2005) and was diagnosed as having *right* bundle branch block during a routine Bupa health check funded by my employer in 1999. I understand that left and right bundle branch block are similar in nature and effect. They recommended that I visit my GP and ask for a referral to a cardiologist. As I had no symptoms (and still have none) - no chest pains, blackouts or anything that suggest a possible heart malfunction, my GP thought a referral to be a waste of time and money and said that he would not have made the referral had it been funded by the NHS rather than my employer's private health insurance.

I visited the cardiologist on a number of occasions and had several further tests at a Bupa hospital - and a 24 hour session with probes all over my chest and a recording device around my waist. In the end, the cardiologist concluded that (exactly like my GP had earlier) because I had no physical symptoms of the condition, it probably had not developed recently and was no real cause for concern. Apparently, some people are born with the condition and it never gets worse and doesn't affect them.

I'm sure you've already had it explained that it's not a life threatening condition and that if it has developed recently, the worst that is likely to happen is that you might need a pacemaker fitted.

Best of luck

Andrew
