been type 2 and the fact i get no sodding help from the NHS at all
do i have to tell my current employer that im type 2. and as i plan to leave this vile job do i have to tell future employers ?

Sorry you are unhappy with your current job .
Hope you can soon find a job you really enjoy .

Telling an employer about your diabetes is your choice .
Honesty usually is the best policy though .

Many let their employer know and then NOT have to worry/fret about it .

What meds are you using for it ?
If insulin/gliclazide then wiser to let them know.
As these can induce a hypo .

hi Anna

im not on any meds at the moment only diet and exercise. ive been in hell with this job for the last 5 years. i just hear that once you tell a new employer you are type 2 then they go off you. i guess they would rather hire a healthier person

Not ALL employers think the same way/style .
On diet and exercise you wont have to attend as many hospital
clinic appointments as an insulin dependent patient/person .
So that is a plus and positive on your side !

Dont give up - if you are so unhappy with your present job .
Keep trying to find and achieve your dream job .

If I could turn back time, I wouldn't mention it to my current employer. But that's strictly a personal opinion.
For future jobs, I think I'd possibly mention it only after I'd secured the job and got myself nice and comfortable there.

Health records are a personal thing so it's up to you whether you tell them. Some professions you have to tell them. Personally, I wouldn't offer the information at interview stage if I didn't have to or wasn't asked. Once you start work, I would mention it to colleagues where you can fit it into conversation.

Hi Turvell, I'm a self employed / contractor. Director of my own little company and I hadn't thought about telling myself that I'm type 2. Seriousley tho' , as i'm a contractor, I never get asked. I don't think an employer should have any reason to know or ask unless the job comes with some form of medical / life cover.

Joe i think your right and it's not like it effects my performance at all
