been controlled on diet and tablets for 10 years but even looking after what I eat my blood sugar levels are up first thing in the morning to 8.4 before tablets. Now been told I need to start on insulin. Always at the gym and fit and healthy. Weight 74 kg at 5.11 height. Any advise
ask your Dr. you may fine better control with a LCHF diet, but you may still need insulin, but perhaps not as much. It will help even out the spikes and may give your best outcome
Evidence is inconclusive for an ideal amount of total fat intake for people with diabetes;
therefore, goals should be individualized; fat quality appears to be far more important than quantity.
In people with type 2 diabetes, a Mediterranean-style, MUFA-rich eating pattern may benefit
glycemic control and CVD risk factors and can therefore be recommended as an effective alternative to a lower-fat, higher-carbohydrate eating pattern.
Hi. If you have been having a low-carb diet and are not overweight, you may well be another Late onset T1 like many of us. The only solution is insulin which is not a big problem. Do ask to go on the Basal/Bolus regime (two insulins) rather than mixed if you can and don't mind a few more injections as it gives total control
