Hi - I'm only 3 days into a low carb diet - and came downstairs this morning to a 3.4 mmol reading!
(Am attempting to reverse my diabetes with dramatic weight loss.)
Yesterday I had a 2 egg mushroom, chorizo & parmisan - scrambled egg, a tesco 2% lager (8 carbs) , kippers & poached egg for tea. Red wine - brandy & whisky also involved ! But basically only 22 carbs all day after a glitch on the veg front.
My wife having become type 1 at Christmas this year and just starting now to get hypo's while her doses of insulin are being sorted I can now appreciate the feeling to a degree and probably wouldn't have been aware if I hadn't been prompted by her condition to buy my own monitor. Indistinguishable from a hangover really.
Would recommend getting a monitor if going low carb.
Cheers - John
(type 2 diagnosed 2009 @ 49 yrs of age after statins prescribed - diet controlled at the moment - hba1c 6.2% - 17st ish)
