Hi people, as you see the name is jay jay and I have 1 or 2 questions to all and anyone.

I have been a T2 for nearly four years and do not take my blood lvels myself anymore, did this for 1month only.
general Q1. how many T2's feel very tired towards the end of the day
Q2. Is it common to feel thirsty although not all of the time.
Q3. I only have full set of bloods taken every 4 months, anyone else in this position.
Q4 Should I be asking what my blood levels are after these tests or wait until surgery
offers to tell me.
Generally I feel quite well and it would seem that I'm very lucky not to have to take my blood each day, I take 3 metformin each day, an asprin, a heart tab. and a statin, although my cholesterol level has always been what it should be.

Welcome to the forum. Have a good look around and if you have any more questions just ask away.

Answers.
1. If you call being tired at 1 - 2 am after being up since 7am, then Yes I am tired, otherwise not at all.

2. Not as far as I am concerned. I do keep tight control of my Bg levels on a daily basis.

3. I get a full lipid panel done with every HbA1c appointment. Every 3 months without fail.

4. Always get your results at the time and make sure they are printed or written down. If you are not sure what they mean, ask here.

How do you know what your Bg levels are if you are not testing ? I feel very lucky that I test on a daily basis and know exactly what is happening to my body.

The symptoms you describe in your post indicate high Bg levels ? Constant high Bg levels are the precursor to many complications, not at all a good idea !

Do you know what your last HbA1c level was ? Do you know what your Cholesterol, HDL,LDL,Trigs are ? All things you need to know for good control.

How do you know what's happening if you don't test?
general Q1. how many T2's feel very tired towards the end of the day.
I'm sometimes shattered, especially if looking after 18 month old Grandchild for a day. It's not diabetes related though. Just hard work at 60+
Q2. Is it common to feel thirsty although not all of the time.
Not normal. Very likely due to high blood glucose.
Q3. I only have full set of bloods taken every 4 months, anyone else in this position.
I get my full set done only every 6 months, but I'm on top of it ALL the time
Q4 Should I be asking what my blood levels are after these tests or wait until surgery
offers to tell me.

Knowing your blood glucose at least once a day is essential in my opinion

PS what are your Hba1cs?
 
Hi folks its jay jay , Yes I relise if you don't ask you wont know but it seems that there has been no reason to ask as my Hba levels seem to be normal and when I asked the last time I was told everything was normal and not to worry, thank you for your advice on the levels bit I'm due again in nov I think and this time I will ask. My last level was 5.6 and I did that with a friends monitor back in Aug, and constantly told that my chlorestoral level is very good and the the reason for the statin is it has very good properties for people that have had any heart problems, a triple b/pass last year but now feel A1. Anyway I will continue to watch and read the form as I find most of the topics very interesting, and people are very honest. thank you once again and I'll keep in touch on here. JJ
