went to the doctor with pain & numbness in pad of right foot & tingling feeling from knee to ankle on left leg-doctor said " sorry i can not do anything for you " !!!!
do I just accept the situation-do I just give up trying to control this terrible disease.
driving to work this morning it felt as if someone had stabbed me in the right foot-screaming pain-I am 66 years of age and it frightened me.
Welcome Jockie, I see this is your first post and I think you have found a good place here - so many kind and knowledgeable posters.
Sorry to hear about your problems. But you might get better advice if you tell us a bit more about yourself, e.g. how do you presently control your T2? - what are your numbers generally - and for long have you been diagnosed?.
From what I have learned, more or less consistently high blood sugar readings may eventually lead to neuropathy (which is what I believe you have). I have also heard that with a very strict control of numbers over time, you may get some kind of alleviation - also over time (as you will mostly also have been some time developing the neuropathy).
So I sadly think your doctor is right - he cannot really do anything about this
except for helping you in your daily diabetes control - and please, dear jockie, never give up trying to control this. I do not wish to sound like a doomsday prophet, but if you relinquish control, things may tend to go from bad to worse ...
Wishing you the best - and please keep coming back,
annelise
- oh, and I have heard that many with neuropathy will take 'alpha lipoic acid'. Others will know more about that than myself (only have mild neuropathy under my footsoles myself)
