My partner is getting normal blood readings in the morning and during the day - 5.8, 5.7 but in the early evening and before bed his bloods have been between 8.7 and 9.1. They always return to the normal range in the morning. Am concerned as his father and brother both have type 2 and also he is very tired and his eyesight has worsened in the last couple of months. I have type 1 diabetes, thats how we have been checking his blood and his 'symptoms' were ringing a few bells with me. Can anyone relate to this and do you think he should see his gp? (I have advised that he goes sooner rather than later!)
Thanks

Definitely see the GP
those normal numbers are on the high end of normal anyway.

I agree with Hana. With type two diabetes the post meal blood sugars always go off first. By the time the fasting levels are affected the pancreas is under a great deal of strain. Sounds like a glucose tolerance test will be needed for diagnosis.
