Hi To You All.......I am now officially a Type 1, (GAD antibody positive). Consultant told me to forget everything I have been doing with my diet and exercise for the last 10 years as a Type 2 and learn the Type 1 ropes.......I am still taking Glicazide, Metformin and Humelyn I insulin which is what I have taken for the last year.....any tips .....not sure how to count carbs always just been a low carber and watched my diet like a hawk......thanks

Hi and welcome!

Thank heavens you now have a clear diagnosis.
Hopefully you will be able to get to grips with the changes.

I googled Humelyn but all I could find was Humelin https://www.humulin.com/insulin-options
Or have I got that completely wrong?

Could you let us know whether you are on fixed doses of mixed insulin?
And have your medical team given you any advice on carbs and referred you for a carb counting course?

If you are used to carb watching as a T2, then you are probably going to make the transition to carb counting as a T1 more easily than someone without that background. :)

There are some type 1s including me who find low carb eating way the best way to manage for them. The change of diagnosis probably means you can now be more flexible with how much carbs you can eat. All the best finding what works best for you :-)
