I went into the emergency room last year not knowing I had diabetes. My sugar levels was 300 and was diagnosed with Type 2. I lost 50 pounds and have kept my sugar levels down pretty well. Still been eating cookies, cake, etc. but working out everyday.
In the past week I’ve been having really bad issues with keeping my blood sugar even. I had gone on a short 2 min job on Monday and my sugar levels went from 160 to 53 in those short 2 mins of a light jog... The next day I have a big 12inch sub and my sugar goes to 170. A hour if not sooner later it drops to 63. I have went to the emergency room on Thanksgiving because just a short walk to the bathroom my sugar can drop 20 points in some cases.
I went into the emergency room at 218 blood sugar because my sugar was dropping. It was 118 and within in five minutes it dropped to 81. So I drank two cokes to bring it up. So of course my blood sugar was high at the hospital. They took a blood test and heart X-rays everything came back normal.
I was there for 45 mins and my sugar went from 218 to 112. But they say I’m totally fine.
I really don’t know what to do and I have a real doctors appointment tomorrow afternoon. I’m hoping I wasn’t misdiagnosed last year.
I will eat a banana, peanut butter, and drink some milk but my sugar just drops. Today it went from 170 to 89 in 20 minutes. I’m just so scared and worried something is seriously wrong. I’ve used 3 different meters so it’s not that...
I take no medications for my diabetes everything has been done through working out.
Sorry about the title... I am just looking for help. I can’t seem to figure out what is going on. Everyone seems to think I’m crazy. I just feel my blood sugar shouldn’t drop so quickly. It can drop 40 points in 5-10 minutes. It’s extremely scary and I just want to figure out what I can do to avoid it. I do drink a soda and eat peanut butter once it starts to drop to avoid hypo. I don’t know what else to do. It dropped from 190 to 118 in a matter of 15 minutes tonight
Before this last week I never drank soda or sugary drinks. I don’t drink alcohol or do drugs. I’m 27 and fairly active. Like I said I do enjoy having sweets but once my sugar levels got to 140+ I’d go for a 2-4 mile walk or a few minute jog. I was doing so well until this past week.
if your diet controlled your type 2 no doubt. why are you eating junk food sugar will spike you and then you crash. however 89 is 4.9 thats not a hypo the 65 was 3.5 which is low the 53 is a hypo. however i suspect its a product of your diet. eat healthy you cant be diet controlled and be a junk food eater and expect healthy levels. try a low carb diet and see how that works. you would be wise to see a consultant diabetic specialist.
Hi. You need to have your diabetes diagnosis investigated as it doesn't look like T2? There are other types such as Reactive Hypoglycemia and MODY which exhibit unusual blood sugar behaviours. There are forums on this website for those. You may have to seek a knowledgeable diabetes doc to sort this out.
