Type 2 with CKD

Type 2
I have, within the last three months been diagnosed with stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease. My GP has taken me off metformin which was successful at controlling my BS and put me on solo star insulin injection at night. Since this, due to high potassium levels my BS readings have been up and down, following the diet advice from kidney dietician. If I revert back to diabetic diet my potassium levels rise due to the CKD. Has any one out there got any advice on recipes that don't contradict each other, feel very let down by my GP and consultant even though I have begged for help and advice.

Good morning thebear.

Thankfully, I don't have any experience with CKD, but I will tag @CollieBoy , whom I seem to recall has had experience (although to what degree I couldn't say), and I do know he made great progress.

This will also bump your post up the Recent Posts where folks often notice things.

Good luck with it all.

Hi & welcome. sorry, I cant be much help as I'm stable at the CKD3/4 border and have a normal potassium level.
Good luck on controlling this.

Sorry about that, but when CKD comes up, I always think of you and your excellent outcomes (and I love the collie gifs......)

I feel sorry for your predicament

If you feel let down by your consultant and GP don't hold back tell them exactly how you feel

I told my consultant and GP that I felt severely depressed with constantly high sugars and feeling ****, I am always showing too much protein in my urine

I started carb counting recently

I am stage 3 CKD

I'm no cook and don't follow recipes sorry

Good luck sorry I can't advise but I wish you good luck
