Type 2

Welcome Sandra
Please don't blame yourself, not everyone who is overweight has diabetes and around 10% of T2's are fairly skinny.
Carrying extra weight is a risk factor, as it is for many other conditions, but it's not necessarily the cause.
In fact for many of us it's a symptom of our inability to efficiently use the glucose we get from the carbohydrates in our diets, so In effect T2 has caused us to gain weight.
Many of us have found that reducing the carbs in our diet as well as lowering our blood sugar has resulted in weight loss.
Have a look at the link for the Nutritional thingy at the bottom of my post

I found the way to give up my favourite carbs was to think about the best substitutes - cauliflower rice, halloumi fries, etc. And I switched from milk chocolate to 85% dark. There are loads of recipes on the low carb and keto websites.

I still have a sweet tooth, although not as sweet as it used to be, so I have full fat greek yogurt with a few fresh or frozen berries, or make a fake rhubarb crumble with ground almonds to serve with double cream. And occasionally make a low carb cake with ground almonds or coconut flour.

Hi im.sandra I have type 2 diabetes mainly cos of my weight
I was about as wide as I was tall, at my worst. The weight piled on because I couldn't handle carbs, the diabetes (or at first, insulin resistance which escalated into T2 numbers eventually) was what made me one big lass. Generally accepted knowledge puts the cart before the horse, more often than not: one causes the other, not the other way around. https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html might help a little to turn things around. You'll be fine. Honest.
Hugs,
Jo

Hello and welcome @sarn57 to the club no one wants to join

I agree with the previous posters and also highly recommend that you read the link suggested by @JoKalsbeek . It is something I often recommend to new people to read.

If you do to already have a meter I highly recommend getting one- it is the tool that will let you know how your body reacts to different foods and that allows you to make choices with knowledge.

Read around and ask questions- this place is full of amazing people who are very willing to help and give support and advice.

Good luck and welcome.

Thank you so much for the info I'm going to do that right now
