Was diagnosed with Type 2 approx 2 weeks ago and was given Metforim to take 3 times a day, due to horrific stomach cramps he then advised me to stop for 2 days and then carry on with 1 pill aday (still horrific stomach cramps). I saw him on monday and have now been given "slow release Metforim (which is have been told to start at the weekend), just wondering if these will give me horrifc cramps too.

Thank you

For me they did for anything over 500mg. Can tolerate 500 but any more and I'm in agony. I tried gliclazide which was 10 times worse (would be awake all night in agony).
Do you suffer from ibs or anything like that?

No nothing like that at all

Hopefully modified release will be good with you. They always start with standard one as it cheap. The MR version costs more. Loads of people struggle with the standard one with cramps

I'm ok on the slow release, but they started me on 2 - couldn't cope with that. So I'm on 1 a day. The ordinary ones - I thought I was genuinely dying, throwing up the whole night.
Make sure you take them with food.
