Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

I see blood readings of 5 and 6 but I have never managed that, mine is 10 today so does anyone know why, I walked a few miles yesterday but didn't eat too badly?
Hi M, when you say you didn't eat too badly, do mind me asking what you did eat and did you test before and sometime after eating?
Cheers

I have to ask, why the sleep pattern if you think it is a contributing factor.

It's just that figures on their own seem meaningless. Well, it's not just that. I eat the same thing at bed time and have found sleep before midnight and of good quality affects my morning fasting blood glucose level so I include it as pertinent information for others to see. Plus, it will help to motivate me to get to bed before midnight - well, that's the idea but, the universe seems to conspire against me!

Sorry to return to this question again but should we expect a different result testing first thing after waking up in the morning compared to a fasting test a few hours after getting up? I could be wrong but the evidence seems to suggest yes because of the so-called dawn effect or 'liver dump' which affects some people. So in this thread are we looking for figures illustrating the dawn effect or our 'baseline' blood glucose levels after an 8-10 hour fast (therefore not soon after waking)? I generally test half an hour to an hour after getting out of bed for this thread, but not exclusively.

And another 4.8 this morning. That's 4 in a row and 5 out of the last 6 days with a reading of 4.8.

I am generally only testing in a morning now as I only tend to eat food that I know won't affect me, but I tested before dinner last night and it was also 4.8! Either my meter's broken or I am keeping pretty consistent

4.9 on a cold & frosty Manchester morning, next post from Dubai.

Speak later all have a great POETS DAY and nice long weekend.

Thank you... If it's only three days I can do that!!

First ever morning reading and judgng by reading back on this post, it isn't great 7.5 at 8am
Hi MrsMac... It isn't bad though... I imagine you've been reading about 'liver dumps'? Our livers love us and so they dump a load of sugar into our systems first thing in the morning to kick-start our days.... Oh dear.... It might be a liver dump that gave you a high reading and not what you ate the night before.... having said that, it would be wise, for comparison purposes, to test and see what your numbers are before you go to bed... Mine was 6.4 this morning, but I have my defence prepared already..

The calm voice of reason...

5.3 mmol / L this morning.
6.2 mmol / L at bed time.

Despite bed time being past 1am and quality being less than 50%!

WOW!
