Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.
I was diagnosed at the start of June. My fasting test was 13.8 and average was 10.8. I tested this morning at 7.4. So coming down, my target is to get below 6. I am living on salad, with either chicken, fish or another meat, have had no potatoes, bread, cake or biscuits for 4 weeks. I am walking approx 5km a day after my dinner. Been reading a really good book called - type2 the first year. Anyone any suggestions how to break the 7 level, the people who are down at 5 how long did it take to get you to that level and how did you do it.
Took me a month (well that was when I started testing) from 9.4 to 5.6. You can read my approach in my thread in success stories ( don't know how to reference it on the phone app) called got my 3 month hba1c.I was diagnosed at the start of June. Hope you're feeling better soon4.0 for me this morning. That's very much in my range. I had a bit of a food and drink adventure yesterday evening, involving mango daquiri and Mexican food. Scrummy.
I'm somewhat jaded this morning; probably due to a very late night (for me) and I have a touch of the ready lurgy sore throat that's going round these parts.
Oh well. Best get on. It's shaping up to another beautiful day in Paradise (07:20 here).
Most people find sweet potatoes better than normal ones. Thanks for all your support, it is difficult when you are first diagnosed to work out what is right and what is not , especially when the health professionals seem to give contra advice to what you read in books and articles.
I feel quite positive about this, I think this was the kick I needed - I just hope I can sustain it.
One question - sweet potato fries - yes or no
Off on holiday next month and I live on these when I go on holiday.
You'll have to test your bg before eating then 1 hour after and 2 hours after. Thanks for all your support, it is difficult when you are first diagnosed to work out what is right and what is not , especially when the health professionals seem to give contra advice to what you read in books and articles.
