Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Gosh, that's quite low. Well, it would be one of mot lower readings, in any case.

Just noticed you're T1.5.

Yep it is a low reading, been having a challenges regarding keeping my sugars up. Have lost some 14kg now corrected my BMI to 25. I have reduced my insulin from 25units twice daily to just18units once a day & have dropped 40mg of Gliclazide morning and evening! Been checked by the doctor who is ecstatic to say the least and my last consultation at the hospital was fifteen minutes questioning on how I achieved this! It has taken many months but you may find this link interesting it's to diabetes.in (India)

My bloods run pretty low too, but as a T2, without any medication, my body is working hard to look after me these days.

If you are having trouble keeping your scores up, isn't it time to consider further reducing your meds? It doesn't make sense to eat up to meds, when medication could potentially be reduced?

6.0 for me

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.

The battery has died in my meter.

So I've just missed measuring a truly spectacular reading - after my carb fest yesterday.

Probably in the 8s, but if I shut my eyes and imagine really hard, I'll pretend it was in the 4s

;)

You never know - it could've been ok! Go raid all the other gadgets in your home for a 2032 battery!!!

5.8, that's better. I've been doing a 4-meal regime the last couple of days, trying to focus my exercise around eating +1. We shall see if that is significant. Also lost 1.8 kg in the last week - quite a sudden drop after plateauing for a while.

 The kitchen scales now need a battery.

It was 6.8 after all that excitement, so not as disastrous as it could have been. :)

7.4 this morning, hopefully the rise was due to being woken 3 times during the night by someones car alarm and I will be back in the 6s tomorrow

4.0 for me this morning. That's very much in my range. I had a bit of a food and drink adventure yesterday evening, involving mango daquiri and Mexican food. Scrummy.

I'm somewhat jaded this morning; probably due to a very late night (for me) and I have a touch of the ready lurgy sore throat that's going round these parts.

Oh well. Best get on. It's shaping up to another beautiful day in Paradise (07:20 here).

I was diagnosed at the start of June. My fasting test was 13.8 and average was 10.8. I tested this morning at 7.4. So coming down, my target is to get below 6. I am living on salad, with either chicken, fish or another meat, have had no potatoes, bread, cake or biscuits for 4 weeks. I am walking approx 5km a day after my dinner. Been reading a really good book called - type2 the first year. Anyone any suggestions how to break the 7 level, the people who are down at 5 how long did it take to get you to that level and how did you do it.

Hey. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I am trying to get my levels down to 5.5 but rarely do but I've found it reduces when I eat less carbs and protein and include more fat. Exercise definitely helps but I'm
Quite restricted so can't get out to exercise as much as I'd like!

Took me a month (well that was when I started testing) from 9.4 to 5.6. You can read my approach in my thread in success stories ( don't know how to reference it on the phone app) called got my 3 month hba1c.

Just carry on doing what you're doing, that's great.

Thanks for all your support, it is difficult when you are first diagnosed to work out what is right and what is not , especially when the health professionals seem to give contra advice to what you read in books and articles.
I feel quite positive about this, I think this was the kick I needed - I just hope I can sustain it.
One question - sweet potato fries - yes or no
Off on holiday next month and I live on these when I go on holiday.

Most people find sweet potatoes better than normal ones.
I don't. So I'm afraid it's a personal thing...

You'll have to test your bg before eating then 1 hour after and 2 hours after.
