Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

I've got two Accucheck Glucose meters and a Glucomen LX Plus Glucose+B-Ketone meter. Sometimes there is a slight variation but stick to one meter for records.

Just checked the price of the B-Ketone strips..£28 for 10 strips now that is way too expensive, glad the NHS looks after me.

Good morning... A lot of us would be ver happy with your 5.9... Do you low-carb?
Thanks, my readings were much higher when I started taking Humulin 1. I have not yet been able to go on a low carb diet. I have only recently (in the last 3 months) realised the significance with carbohydrates. I was under the impression that sugar is the problem. I joined this site hoping to find some information about reducing carbs.

Have a read of this http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/a-new-low-carb-guide-for-beginners.68695/

No time like the present to make a start!

Have faith Brummy, yes carbohydrates are important. And since being on insulin I feel miles better !

That's my thinking as well. It's better to be incorrect on the high side.

These were £4.99 for 50 on eBay. 24hr chemist... There were dearer ones that tested something else as well.

6.2 this morning, but not a fair test. Usual weekend ritual of very late night snacking (jalapeño's stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon) after the kids are in bed.

Also woke up to -28C (-37 wind chill) this morning.... Don't think I'll venture out unless required. The cold had me thinking about the summer time fun and of course warmth of that season. Ended up going through photos on my computer and found a nice one that was still in the RAW camera format.

Fired up my Lightroom application and here is the end result. Sky is in a transition state, and about 25 minutes later everything was a purple glow

When it warms up in a few days, I'll venture outside with my camera and share some winter shots of the snow.

That is one stunning photo.

BOOTIFUL

What sort of cheese was it? I'm more for cheddars and that texture and Lancashire and other crumblies

Is there a problem with the Accu Check? My GP has invited us to a meter demo, it will be interesting to see what they have to offer.

I like my Accu Chek Mobile for ease of use. No separate strips to mess with or dispose of as they are contained inside a cartridge inside the meter. However, the replacement cartridges are ultra expensive. £25 retail for 50 (can get them cheaper on eBay). However, my experiments have shown that it reads 0.5mmol/l lower on average - sometimes above 1mmol/l lower than my Codefree. It is impossible to say which of the two is the most accurate.

You've come to the right place for sure

It's the CodeFree that may be measuring high.
