After The Lord Mayors Show how do I stay motivated...thats the real test I guess...I'm sO impressed with those of you who still keep going on the forum after you have hit your target numbers...

5.7....was VERY naughty yesterday....

I think you partly answered your own question there! Hitting target numbers is one thing. Maintaining them is another. Helping others reach their targets is a great motivator too, and stories like yours are inspirational to those still struggling to reach their goals, so stay with us. There is still so much to learn, with no better place than this forum to do this.

The price of Paradise You have such a lot going on am not surprised the numbers are up a bit.... The excitement, the stress of getting everything done in time... Take a step back @AndBreathe and breathe....with your feet up and a cuppa if only for half an hour. Take care, you're nearly there, enjoy....

I was also very naughty yesterday lunch time - up in the 7's and 8's. Thankfully redeemed again at tea time.

5.5 at bedtime
5.4 this morning.

Ah, sorry @PatsyB. I think I had your sleep last nite, best for a long time. Hope you have a better night tonite, know what lack of it does for whole day after

Clearly, I have no idea what "VERY naughty" means to you, but you're sailing pretty close to the wind there:

I know you've had an excellent set of results, but it might be kinder to your system to let it settle there for a little while, before testing the potentially revolving door?

(Clearly none of my business, just concerned, bearing in mind how much you hated where you were before.)

Of course as ever you are right @Bluetit1802 I do enjoy helping others to. In fact my GP texted me yesterday and asked if I could use me as an example. I REALLY do want others to benefit. Thanks.

@AndBreathe thats what I love about this site and great people like you. I had a small portion of rice and cheickn with a few potatoes. The Very Naughty bit was a slice of lemon cake of the sort I haven't touched for 3 months. That for me is VERY naughty. I said to my wife thats it now I have had my treat for the year. MANY THANKS!

I guess we can be Very Naughty sometimes....I must admit I was always outside my headmasters room in my secondary school days...Not you again??? then I used to turn it around with half decent academic performances...redemption

6.5 today. Full of cold and could do with staying in bed but the wandering plasterers have decided today is the day they what to lay the new hearth and then the sound bloke is coming to look at our barn in readiness fir Mf E's big do next month. It's supposed to be a day of rest !!!

Obviously, it's entirely up to you how you handle this, but if you do want to experiment with food, that's fine, but it might have been kinder to have stuck to 1 or 2 of the heavy carb foods at any time for now. Where were you postprandial readings after that lot?

Rice, spuds and cake all in one meal? Tut tut. I know from experience I can only manage one portion of major carbs at a time. That was why I was very high after lunch yesterday - I mixed spuds with bread. One or the other I handle well, both together is a no-no.

7.4 Bedtime
7.1 Fasting

I've had a few fasting 7's this week and am not happy. I can't see I'm doing/eating anything different except I began taking Bio Omega capsules a week ago. Has anyone else noticed a rise in bs due to fish oil supplements?

I've experienced that. ONE or t'other but NOT BOTH. Altho diff foods it all comes down to portion size again doesn't it, portion of carbs

Oho, 11.6!!! Then realised I forgot to take my insulin again last night :headbang: at least I don't have work to bother me this week so I can focus on getting back in a routine

You're not a Codefree user, are you Totty? (A few of us have had some apparently errant strips in random pots of late.)

Phew! At least you know why but be careful about remembering your meds x

4.9 Day 1
4.8 Day 2 Fasting/Breakfast Today of Midnight Metformin. I have had only 9 fasting readings below 5 mmol/L since the 28 October 2014.

Just to be clear, I had stated that my normal FBS numbers were in the Mid to high 5s sorry, it appears my average is a little Lower but not by much, see below.

My Fasting record is the same as my Breakfast recordings so I cannot see them without extracting the numbers, so I have gone through all my AM Pre Breakfast recordings since 28 October 2014, when I first started recording.

78 Fasting/Breakfast readings taken (not including these 2)
417.6 Total

5.353 mmol/L Average Fasting since 28 Oct 2014

Nope. I'm still using the Next Contour meter supplied by the hospital. To my knowledge I've not had any problems in the year I've been using it. For economy reasons I should go over to the Codefree (the last pot of Contour strips I had to buy while away at Christmas cost a whooping £27.50)
