I'm with you Kimbo the only thing I really , really miss is freshly baked bread. I am lucky though can manage 1 slice of Burgen with no effect on BG, but 2 slices sends me to 7.5 after 2 hrs.Wasn't ever keen on the sliced packet bread but obviously loved fresh crusty bakers bread!!
I'm another that can manage half a slice of fried white bread with a fry up meal. It does nothing to my levels at all, either at 1hr or 2hrs. The fat in the meal seems to allow this.
Hi @poshtotty@brettsza I read your post last week but didn't have time to stop and reply. I've a lot of catching up to do here so I don't know your latest but I just want to say don't become disheartened by the weight loss or lack of it.
Despite following all the advice here and tweaking my fat/carb/protein ratios my weight loss is still very slow, stagnant even. I personally think there is too much focus on weight loss and LCHF if its not careful will just be considered as a solution to weight loss while its other benefits are ignored. Weight loss, as we all know can be temporary and the quicker it comes off the quicker it can go back on.
I had a revelation recently when I had my monthly body measurements taken and compared with the previous month. Despite Christmas and New Year falling halfway through, I had lost a total of 30cm fat, including 4 inches of fat from around my waist. My PT said in all her career she had never known anyone lose 4" from their waist over Christmas!
My understanding is that for diabetics it is the losing fat that it more important than losing weight. Weight is often only excess water anyway but we should be aiming to lose fat more than weight.
Do you take your body measurements? You might be as surprised as I was to discover that while the weight may not be shifting, other amazing things are going in which we don't see but which are far more beneficial to diabetics than numbers on a weighing scale.
Take heart!
I am conducting a comparison experiment from today for 7 days. Batch 44 versus Accu Chek Mobile. One test on each meter at each of my normal testing times, no re-testing.
Results so far after testing at 5 different times. Codefree average 6.7. Accu Chek average 6.2.
So happy your viral thingy is on its way out... Why do you need binoculars for domestic? I have a vivid picture of you being so long-sighted you cannot see the dust without them...I don't think I've been 3.7 since last summer... 6.2 this morning - my husband left me to sleep till 7.30 so felt headachy and hot... is that the liver dump do you think? I had chicken soup last night with swede and a little carrot being the only carbs...
ok
So batch 44 is taking a p@@@
But I went low carb and reduced my carbs to about 10g surving on water most of the times
On Sunday morning woke up to 7.5
Had breakfast 2 egg ommlette with some vegetables in it at 1PM and was still 6 at about 5pm
This p***** me off to no extent
Made a chicken bacon and sausage casserole with little flour but enough for 2 days so not a lot of flour per serving
Had a bowl of that at 5 and kept my strips in the room so as to keep a little warm.
Had cheese ham and avacado for dinner at 10
Test at 11 was 4.9
Was it too cold for the strips?
I have a temperature and humidity meter
Left that in the bathroom where my strips are and kept the strips in bedroom
Bathroom temp was 6 degrees which I thought could be a contributing factor too
Tested fasting 5.2
But it could be coz I hardly had any carbs yesterday all day
I will have normal carbs in the evening and see before and after readings too
May be it is the cold places we leave our strips.
Lot of may be's but try keeping it in warmer place.

I'm off back to bed for a couple of hours.
Had a bad night wth pain.
Had a bad night with peeing.
I'm cream crackered.
Goodnight God bless my fellow diabolics.

Paradise...Ah. The domestics and binoculars are so closely related, but I do use the binos here every single day. There's always so much to see on the water.
Maybe more to do with eating carbs?Much as I'd love to buy your temperature theory, where I am it's a pretty constant 27-28c, day and night, so hardly in the chilly bracket.
I had a 4.4 one morning that surprised me too! Just one of those things - make a note, and move on, as ColdEthyl says...4.2 this morning. That surprised me as that's the lowest since 19/1. Not sure I can really explain it.
Maybe more to do with eating carbs?and the dreaded 44's of course...
