I cook a couple of "normal" portions of rice in one go then freeze it into "my" portion sizes. Used to be that what served 3 would be two portions for me now a 3 person portion serves me for at least 6....how thinking changes ....Have you tried cauli rice at all? It's amazingly effective, in terms of adding texture and bulk to a meal, without adding significant carbs. Alternatively, if I can't be bothered to do the cauli, I just have the curry/chilli or whatever in a bowl and tackle it with a fork and spoon, like a very substantial soup/stew.
I can actually cope with rice, but in fairly modest portions. Sometimes I just can't be bothered to cook a little rice, so I just don't bother.
Part of the acceptance of this thing is finding ways to eat some of what we like. Often it isn't going to be the same as before, but it doesn't necessarily mean things are completely off-limits, just because we can't hack the accompaniments.
Well done that lady...The olny one watching me is the devil that's sat on my shoulder.
I'm just back from Asda, had a good look at the carbs in bread. So have decided I am / have cut out ALL bread. I had to buy white bread for husband, but after looking at the carbs I won't be having any.

All brilliant!!!I'm out! And smilingGot off very lightly after my solicitor managed to get the 2nd offence dismissed so all I had to plead guilty to was speeding. Walked out with only 3 penalty points to add to my collection and a very light wallet..... Lesson learned.
Thank you everyone for all your support and good wishes which this bad girl doesn't really deserve.
Oh, BS after 2 trains, 2 taxis, finding my way around a strange and busy city on foot and being hauled before a magistrate = 5.3!
Really?Hi Susikav, you gotta LOT of catching up to do. Hope you've had nice weekend. Just abt done on here now so will"like" your posts tomo.
Oh boy, you really are going through the wars still.... what a shame... I wouldn't think that eating small, soft stuff would hurt, but you'll know after the first few days for sure... what about low-carb bread in home-made veggie soup? Scrambled egg? Avocado? It's not going to be easy, is it? I hope the anti-bugs kick in quickly so you start to feel a bit better... You'll be glad when the spring gets here, for sure...7.6 this morning. Saw doctor yesterday I have got a throat and chest infection been signed off for 2wks :-(. Will only eating small amounts of soft food harm my diabetes. Not hungry and can't swallow much.
For over 20 years hubby and I had a boarding kennels and cattery. We worked 7 days a week, 48 weeks a year, 14+ hours a day. Christmas Day included. I also had a normal career. We kept going until we reached 60 and then retired. Do we miss it? Do we hell.
Awww.... better soon... that's miserable... the snot and cough, not Moo....5.8 this morning but slept in late again, snotty head and cough and had slice of oat bran and linseed bread and butter around 2am when Moo wanted out.
That's really good... I go over 6 sometimes still...4.5 this morning (5.5 post-dinner). Two months since I started on the regime. Weight loss of 1kg over the last month which is a tad frustrating. Average fasting has been 4.65 over the 2nd month. Taking into account the Contour machine that puts the true average probably around the 4.65 - 5.1 mark. 2 readings over 5.5.
Little despots - all of them...Feeling very frustrated.....nurse said definitely back today, results receptionist saying "Oh no, not today, two days at least...." (held back from telling her all my others, including the fateful diagnosis one) were all within 24 hrs! My dn did say to tell them she said they would be in, but she wouldn't listen! So still waiting now until tomorrow morning....
I have a theory that all receptionists have aspirations to be Attila the hen. Some of them have qualified with honours
Attila the Hen ..... cluck cluck
Me too.... nose-dived in the passport office in Newport on Christmas Eve... they rallied round and sorted me out... half of the staff had family who are 1 or 2, so they knew what to give me... I definitely can get too low and have a hypo...I'm T2 and if I don't look after my diet I can easily go hypo.
