I am 41 and have been in the peri menopausal state. My goodness, during the time of my cycle my blood sugar is so uncontrollable. I bolus constantly. At times I must double my basal rate. As I was diagnosed as a child I was never told that sugars ( and maybe they did not know) would be so effected by hormonal changes . I think in my twenties it sort of leveled out but noticed that in my late 30s the problem returned and has since gotten worse. I wonder if anyone has noticed this type of change especially for the women close to my age that are in or have gone through the "change of life"

Amazing how much our hormones can effect our sugars. I bet men also may think this is a "woman's" issue but guys ... You make hormones too:)))

Insulin is a hormone, so yes, I think we know that hormones affect blood sugars.

Maybe I was not clear ... I am talking about estrogen, progesterone and testosterone levels. It is possible that some people do not realize how much they affect blood sugars. I can say that when I was much younger ( I am type 1 for 36 years) and started menstruating no one told me that , as I am now in my 40s it has gotten worse .
