I was diagnosed last week with type 1 diabetes. I haven't completely gotten over the shock. Excpt for burning when I urinated, I thought I was in perfect health. Mom took me to her doctor to get treated for the UTI and from tests he found I was diabetic. I was in the hospital for a week while they treated me for a kidney infection and with insulin. They taught me how to test and inject insulin and not much more. I was released and stayed with my T1 aunt for 4 days. Now I'm pretty much on my own as far as diabetes care is concerned. I've already learned more from this site than I did from the hospital.
I'm on spring break for 2 weeks so I have that long to learn what I need to know to survive diabetes and go to high school at the same time. I'm going to need lots of help.
