Was at my yearly review when i have been told i am Type 2 not type1,i was diagnosed in 2004 and that's me just finding out, have lost 3 stone in weight and have cut my insulin from 32 to 18 in the morning and from 22 to 12 at teatime, but it was the consultant that cut it not my own doctor as i don't think he has a clue what he,s doing, anyway i was wanting to know if anybody else has experienced similar circumstances

Hi,

Just curious.. Did you not receive a type diagnosis at all in 2004 or was you told you were Type 1 and now they are telling you that you are type 2?

Did they do certain tests to confirm this?

I haven't experienced this myself, just saw your post was unanswered and was curious.

I was talking to my consultant yesterday about whether i am type 1 or type 2, and sometimes its not totally clear cut

i have some tell tale signs of Type 2, like fatty liver, which apparently isnt normailly seen in type 1's

however, i am responding well to low doses of insulin, along with a few other things that normally suggest type 1..

then there's the fact that i have not had a hypo, and thats apparently unsusual for a T1, unless i'm honeymooning!

what she did say, is that i was being treated as a type 1 which even if im type 2 is ok so long as my levels are controlled.. and thats better then a type 1 being treated as a type 2
