Hi and welcome to the forum @Keithvass! There is a lot of good advice on here. Do you know what your HbAic figures were on diagnosis?
 
Hi, I would speak to your Dr to rule out other reasons but metfomin curbs appitite and is weight loss. Statin in its self doesn't cause weight gain, but it is known to reasure people who, while on a high carb diet. Have more fat without cutting the carbs and so have more total calories, which can increase weight.

as a newly diagnosed diabetic, you may find you need to change your diet. reducing carbs in particular

For me, the more carbs we eat the more carbs we want. They don’t give up easy and it’s biochemical

Hi and welcome to the forum. It is unusual to put weight on with Metformin. Have you made any dietary or lifestyle changes since being diagnosed.
