Partner diagnosed with type2 12 months ago tried to do with diet but this month count 58 so been put on 5mg Trajenta to lower sugar level.
Took first tablet today after doctors when count was 11.9. Had porridge with fruits. Went for walk / exercise walking out for about hour inc sitting resting. Count taken gone down to 5.2 said he felt a bit jittery so knew needed something to eat. Gonna take bloods again after hour or so after eating. Really hard to keep track without upsetting or nagging him. I want what’s best for him but without feeling as if he’s being watched all time. It’s very tricky any advice. Just wondering too if the low 5.2 count was due to exercise or the new tablet he’s taken ??

If he's been used to running high sugars for sometime then his body has got used to it, the new medication may have him running lower than what feels right hence the jittery reaction you describe.
Although 5.2 isn't especially low it feels very low to him, it's called a faux hypo.
This may take weeks or months to resolve but you're doing the right thing.

Hi, Your partner tried a Low Carb way of eating did he?
- Or did he just count calories and try to lose weight?

It is the carbohydrates that us T2D's can't tolerate much, that breakfast of porridge and fruit sound like what I ate before I was diagnosed - I never eat it now after seeing what it does to my Blood Glucose!

Just because somebody is on T2D medication, it doesn't mean that eating well (Low Carb) won't also help.
