tzatziki disaster

Sour Cream or Creme Fraiche are my next bets, hope I will succeed
 
I use creme fresh for most things as I'm not keen on yoghurt or cream- I use half fat because I prefer the less creamy taste but then that's not what your looking for
 
What is creme fresh? I haven't seen that at Tesco

OK got both creme fraiche and sour cream

Sour cream seemed better but unfortunately it has only 15% fat.

I tried so far only creme fraiche and although it was much better than normal thick double cream, I didn't achieve true tzatziki taste

maybe I should buy a tzatziki spice mix? or any other suggestion?
 
I would say, you might have trouble finding a spice mix as it varies so much. Some add paprika, some dill and others just concentrate on the garlic and lemon juice. I'm assuming you are adding garlic and lemon juice to your mixture?

On a more general note, too avoid any potential for sweetness, have you considered cream cheese? If that turns out to be too thick, you could let it down to a more usual consistency with olive oil.

I wonder isn't there any caterer that sells tubes of high fat white paste or something?
 
OK I had success with the sour cream!
It's also good that it has double the fat of greek yogurt (18%) but not as fat as I would like it.

Here it says about sour cream:
There is also a light version, containing only 18% milk fat. It has a thinner consistency than regular sour cream but is produced in a similar way.

It's entirely up to you what you eat and drink, but if the results were too thick, you could try as I suggested and add a little olive oil. You don't get any more fatty than oil. But glad you have something you like.
 
Good, I will try with cream cheese, but it's not that fatty either.

Any idea if the normal sour cream in UK should contain more fat than the 18% tesco's?
