Hello everyone,
I just would like to share an experience of mine as a Type 2 diabetic and would be happy to hear from you if you have any opinion or relevant experience.
I saw a flyer on the internet about a research programme about Type 2 and it was asking for volunteers to donate blood.
I did volunteer and week later they called me in to the national blood donation center to donate some blood. I thought it was going to be some tubes of blood to be sent across some hospitals to check the results if they were matching each other etc.
I ended up giving a pint of blood and felt sick for the following 2 days long. Literally I had to rest for 2 days and take it easy for 3 more days.
I went through standard blood donation process( like checking the iron in the blood, filling in a huge list of form) but nobody checked either the gloucose level or the blood pressure prior or post donation.
Now I feel like how I can help with such a research if it effects my own life? Did they really need so much of blood?
Just still makes me confused what I have done and how it may be still effecting my health.
Thanks,
T
