I've seen online there is a thing called ultra fast insulin but no one on here is talking about it and the NHS haven't published anything about it which is strange because I believe it could help me with some of the issues I've been having,

Does anyone know anything about this insulin and why haven't the NHS been issuing it?

Do you mean Fiasp (NovoNordisk) and Lyumjev (Eli Lilly)?
Both are regularly prescribed on the NHS.

Then there is the much quicker inhaled insulin Afrezza, but that one is not approved in Europe (and the UK).

Sorry I'm not sure of the brand because I heard about this on a tiktok live but they were talking about it working within 7 minutes

Have you asked your consultant about Fiasp or Lyumjev?
They don't work that fast for me, although for some they do.

What are the issues you are having?

Well regular insulin starts to work in about 15 to 20 minutes which is why it’s recommended to take 10 mins before eating…. Of course everyone is different so exactly times will vary

Fiasp and Lymjev are ultra fast insulins been available for some time.. I’m on Lymjev and I start to see bg movement at about 20 minutes which means it start working prior to that, so I typically only inject a few minutes before food.. again every person is different so exactly times will vary

If there is anything even faster (I’ve not heard) but the reason it’s not prescribed may be that it’s not approved in UK/EU yet, typically these things get approved in the USA first, then that approval is used as tce basis for approval in other countries, so it is possible to hear if thing without being available here for sometime
