I have had Pre-diabetes for several years. I can't seem to change this diagnosis from the GP. I have never been overweight and have always exercised. I am largely on a keto diet. Will get blood glucose peek in the morning after breakfast and less so after lunch and supper. My blood glucose level goes up when I play tennis and down when I go for a walk. They drop very low at night. Thinking my blood glucose levels are more affected by adrenaline than diet. If so is the only answer to avoid stress and adrenaline exercise? I realise my case is not the normal. Age 67 years female retired not real worries lucky me!

Sounds as if you've some dawn phenomenon & perhaps need to look at what you eat at breakfast.

Have you got your A1c down <42, in the UK 42-47 is the prediabetic zone.
Well done on being proactive

It may be that eating Keto and the exercise you do is keeping your numbers tipping into full blown T2. Many here have none diabetic numbers even lower than the pre diabetic range but still have T2 and numbers would quickly rise again if they were to relax their carb intake.

It sounds like you test your BG (which is good) as you mention peaks and dips, it would be more helpful if you could post the numbers you are getting when you test as this helps members to advise you better. Also your latest Hba1c.

All in all I think you are doing a great job keeping your numbers down and being pre diabetic for several years and not progressing to T2 is an achievement

What are the numbers you are seeing?
What was your HbA1c that led to diagnosis?

I was diagnosed prediabetic, shortly after doing a strict keto diet and losing 25kg. I am now convinced i was full blown diabetic for as much as 5 years before doing the keto diet, and that the 4 months i was strict Keto caused the lower levels for a prediabetic diagnosis.

I am prediabetic, injecting Ozempic, and following a keto diet to reduce weight. My doctor cannot get his head around keto and loosing weight naturally, as he says i will lose weight anyway with the Ozempic. He wants me to eat at least 100g of starch 3 times per week and keep a BG of between 4.4 and 5... That is really impossible as my BG fluctuates between 3.7 and 5 during the night without eating anything... Sometimes the low stays there for a few hours, other nights it stays between 4.3 and 5 all night.
Also using Ozempic to reduce weight is clinically tested reported as being on average 4.9kg over 2 years. I need to lose 37kg!... The first couple weeks with the keto and Ozempic I lost 7kg, these last 3 weeks it has been about 0.75kg per week... So on the way... I need to exercise more. My plan is get the bulk of the weight off which will allow me to exercise more easily, and then stop te Ozempic and just stay on Keto, as hopefully my HbA1c will be at a reasonably safe level.
Really need to see the levels you are recording to make some comparisons for you.
